In Jharkhand, there is a steady decline in the loans given to SC-STs from banks. According to the data released in the 76th meeting of the State Level Bankers Committee, till March 31, out of 2,150 beneficiaries of the state, only 359 young entrepreneurs of the SC-ST category have been given loans. Under this, 35 to 40 percent subsidy is available on the loan.
There is a lot of potential in the field of Dairy, Fisheries, Food Processing, Horticulture, and Poultry in the state, but the data shows that the banks are not supporting the entrepreneurs belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes working in this sector. The same is the case with the education loan of up to Rs 7.50 lakh to this class without guarantee.
At the same time, despite the state government’s guarantee, only 1,228 AC-ST students’ applications have been approved in a year. In the meeting of the Tribal Advisory Board, other leaders including the Chief Minister have also expressed concern over this. TAC also formed a sub-committee under the chairmanship of JMM MLA Stephen Marandi.
3,750 in loans from banks as compared to last year. There has been a decline of Rs 95 crores. Last year till March 31, Rs 6,853.16 crore loans were given, which this year it has come down to 3,102. 21 crore remained.
