They did this study about the height of Indians. They revealed in this research that the ‘average height’ of Indian people is continuously decreasing. Regarding this, some say that between 2005-06 to 2015-16, the average height of Indians has decreased. Whereas, on the contrary, the height of people is increasing in other countries. The Center of Social Medicine and Community Health, a department of Jawaharlal Nehru University has done this study. According to this research, the average height of adult women and men in the country has decreased.

In this study, they did the first research on the average height of women and men based on state, caste, income, and age, after which they released the data of the results. According to the study, there has been a decline in the average height of Indian men in the age group of 15-50 years. Between 2005-06 and 2015-16, the average height of Indians aged between 15 and 25 has decreased by 1.10 cm. At the same time, the average height of men of 26 to 50 years has also decreased by 0.86 cm.

The study also revealed that the average height of 15-25-year-old Indian women has also decreased. The average stature of women in this age group declined by 0.12 cm between 2005-06 and 2015-16. There has been an increase in the average height of women aged 26-50. Whereas, the average height of women of this age group has increased by 0.13 cm.

Haryana- During 2005-06 and 2015-16, the height of men here declined the most.
Haryana-Women’s height has declined the most.

Meghalaya- Here the height of men increased the most
Sikkim- The stature of women increased the most
Karnataka- The biggest drop in the height of men in the age group of 26-50
Jharkhand is at number two after Haryana, where men’s height decreased by 2 centimeters.

Statistics show that the highest decline in the height of Zoroastrian men occurred between 2005-06 and 2015-16. At number two are men of Jainism.
